Colorado\u2019s top court ruled that Donald Trump was disqualified from holding office<\/a> again because he engaged in insurrection ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol. It was an explosive ruling that injected more legal uncertainty into the 2024 presidential race, in which the former president is the Republican front-runner, and that could now head to the highest court in the land.<\/p>\n The decision found that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment \u2014 which disqualifies from office those who engage in insurrection against the Constitution after taking an oath to support it \u2014 applies to Trump, making him ineligible to be listed on the state\u2019s presidential primary ballot. Trump\u2019s campaign intends to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n The Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, includes three justices nominated by Trump.
