7.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Caribbean Near Cayman Islands

A large, 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean on Saturday night, triggering a tsunami threat across much of the region, including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Honduras and Cuba.

The quake struck 209 kilometers (about 130 miles) south-southwest of Georgetown, Cayman Islands, at 6:23 local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
