Eurowings flight to Mallorca diverted to Paris over galley steam

A Eurowings plane flying from Cologne, Germany, to the Spanish island of Mallorca made an unscheduled landing in Paris on Saturday evening after steam was detected coming from an onboard galley, the airline said.

The Boeing 737 was carrying 131 passengers. Eurowings said the landing at Charles de Gaulle Airport was made as a precaution and under “normal” flight priority status.

“The safety of the passengers and crew was at no time at risk,” a Eurowings spokesman said on Sunday.

Passengers on Flight EW590 were offered hotel accommodation and transfers and were being rebooked on the next available flights, the spokesman said.
