Locals can immerse in Culture and Family Fun at Panama City’s Oktoberfest

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – You won’t have to travel all the way to Germany to immerse yourself in Bavarian culture this weekend.

People can experience the culture and some family-friendly fun right here Downtown.

Destination Panama City hosts the Oktoberfest every year.

Although Saturday will be the 36th year putting on the fun-filled tradition, a pub crawl known as the Volksmarch took on downtown Panama City Friday for the first time ever.

Hurricane Helene spared Franklin County

The Volksmarch is only a preview of what people can look forward to on Saturday.

“We have everything from authentic German cuisine to stuff that the kids are going to love because we all know they get the little picky sometimes, but lots of craft vendors things. 38 vendors in total will be down here. So we’re really excited,” Sports and Special Events Liaison Aubrey Haskell said.

Attendees can expect to see Harrison Avenue come alive with Bavarian festivities.

There will be a main stage in front of the Panama City Center for the Arts where guests can enjoy live music.

There will be a costume contest, a strength and endurance contest, and many other traditions.

“Just come down from three to nine and bring the family. Bring your friends. It literally is something for everyone. We even have a pretzel toss for the kids,” Haskell said.

The event is bringing the community together for a good time and a good cause.

Panama City Police deployed officers to Taylor County following hurricane

“At the Octoberfest Festival event, we’re going to be accepting Hurricane relief for Hurricane Helene victims. So you can bring all of your supplies over to our destination in the Panama City tent,” Haskell added.

If you have extra hurricane relief supplies head down to Oktoberfest on Saturday and stay for the fun.
