Authorities in Canada said they have found the bodies of two paddleboarders who went into the water in Browning Lake last weekend

A newlywed couple who fell into a lake in Canada over the weekend have been found dead, according to authorities and relatives.
Their bodies were discovered several days after they reportedly fell from their paddleboard while on Browning Lake in British Columbia on Saturday, May 30, the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a news release.
Authorities began investigating when they received a report at 3 p.m. local time on Saturday that the paddleboarders had gone into the water and not resurfaced.
A police recovery team located both bodies in the lake during a search on Tuesday, June 2.
“We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search,” police said.
The victims were identified as Genesis Jeru Bague and Mariz Bello, from the Philippines, according to the CBC.
The brother of the deceased man, Genesis Hanzel Bague, told the CBC that the couple, who recently got married, had gone to Browning Lake to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
“The friend who was recording the video thought at first that they were just chilling and hanging out on the paddleboard. [In] a few seconds, [there was] no signs of [them] trying to get back up, and it all went from there,” he said.
Friends “said that they called for help. They started yelling if they could help,” he added.

He said that his brother aspired to become a police officer in British Columbia and the couple enjoyed being outdoors, hiking and camping.
“I just want everyone, all their close friends, to know what happened,” he told the CBC.
