Following the deadly fire at a girls’ boarding school in Kenya, police on Sunday identified seven pupils as the arsonists using the school’s CCTV footage.
No information has yet emerged regarding a possible motive. Sixteen pupils lost their lives and dozens were injured in the fire, which broke out on Wednesday night.
The fire started on the first floor of a dormitory block. According to police, there were 135 bunk beds on that floor.

During the investigation into the cause, fire safety experts found evidence of an accelerant.
As the criminal investigation department has now reported, the seven pupils were identified during the analysis of the camera footage.
Six of them were already in police custody as they were considered possible suspects; the seventh had been handed over to her parents and is now due to be arrested, it was reported.
Meanwhile, according to police, the post-mortem examinations of the girls who died have also been completed. All died from severe burns.
