Smotrich appoints Israel Malachi as new Director General of Finance Ministry

Israel Malachi, who served as the ministry’s Deputy Director General for the past three and a half years, will take over from outgoing Director General Ilan Rom.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has appointed Israel Malachi as the new Director General of the Finance Ministry, following the conclusion of the previous Director General’s term, the Finance Ministry announced on Thursday.

Malachi, who served as the ministry’s Deputy Director General for the past three and a half years, will take over from outgoing Director General Ilan Rom.

Malachi’s experience in Finance Ministry, parliamentary processes

According to a press release from the ministry, Malachi “has extensive familiarity with the Ministry of Finance and its various departments” and much experience with government and parliamentary processes.

The Finance Ministry added that Malachi also has experience in interfacing between multiple levels of government and third parties, in addition to deep knowledge of regulatory fields.

During his time as Deputy Director General, Malachi led the ministry’s post-war rehabilitation efforts for communities in the Gaza envelope and the north, as well as cooperation among the ministry, local governments, and other ministries.

Malachi also previously served as the treasurer of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council and as a board member of KKL-JNF, as well as being a member of the organization’s finance committee.
