British woman dies after being stabbed at train station in Germany

A British woman has died after being stabbed in the early hours of Sunday at a railway station in Germany, police have said.

The woman, 31, suffered “severe injuries” in the knife attack at the Rosenheim train station just before 1 am (2300 GMT on Saturday) and died in hospital.

Bavarian Police said the federal officers arrested a 27-year-old German citizen from the Furstenfeldbruck district soon after the attack.

The background and motive are being looked at as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the force said in a statement.

It added that “under the direction of the Traunstein Public Prosecutor’s Office, Rosenheim branch, an investigation is under way on suspicion of homicide.”

The names of the victim and suspect have not been released.

Officers are asking for any witnesses who may have seen “an argument or physical altercation” at the Rosenheim train station in the early hours to come forward.
