Defence capabilities in space have an ever-increasing and rapidly evolving significance for all forms of military conflict, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said after meeting his counterparts from Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg in Berlin on Monday.
Pistorius said that during his trip to Ukraine last week he had seen “how Ukraine has been able, with the aid of Starlink and modern drone technology, to target the logistics of the Russian invaders behind the frontline.”
Peace needed to be secured “in deterrence capability in space as well,” he said.

The German defence minister pointed to increased cooperation in joint training on orbiting objects and avoiding collision and also on reconnaissance and protection of satellite systems.
The defence ministers at the meeting were Austria’s Klaudia Tanner, Switzerland’s Martin Pfister and Luxembourg’s Yuriko Backes.
