Ellie Crampsie is facing 16 months of jail time for smuggling over $200,000 of cannabis on an international flight last year.

The 23-year-old influencer appeared in court on April 24, where she was sentenced for her role in smuggling over 37 pounds of cannabis in a suitcase while traveling from Thailand to her home in Edinburgh in April 2025, reported the BBC and The Times. In March, Crampsie pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis to others.

Crampsie — who has over 4,000 Instagram followers and 6,000 TikTok followers, and is well-known in the Glasgow nightlife scene — was detained at Edinburgh Airport on April 16, 2025, after authorities discovered the drugs stashed in her luggage.

The content creator claimed in court that she had been forced into carrying the drugs by her ex-boyfriend. Her lawyer, Michael Pogg, said that she had played “a lesser role” in the drug operation and there had been “evidence of pressure,” per The Times.

While delivering Crampsie’s sentencing, Sheriff Graeme Watson acknowledged that there had been a “power imbalance in the relationship” and accepted that she had a “lesser degree of culpability,” the outlet reported.

“You knew your former partner had been involved in drugs and he asked you to check in his luggage,” Watson said to Crampsie in court, maintaining that her behavior was “reckless” per The Times and the BBC.
