A front stalling over northern PA provided thunderstorms to the Southern Tier this afternoon, with a few lighter showers creeping up to the Thruway. Drier air stationed over Canada has kept Lake Ontario’s border counties relatively dry.

The dry air loses some of its ground by Monday morning, allowing some showers to sneak into the city to start the work week. We’re far enough away from the source of the rain to avoid heavy, long-duration precipitation. Expect light, scattered showers area-wide throughout the day. Temperatures remain below 80°.
The front moves farther south by Tuesday, letting dry air return to WNY. Clouds will still be around, but it’s most likely without any rain. 80° is possible, but anything higher seems unlikely.
Wednesday sees partly cloudy skies and temperatures more easily climbing to the low 80s.
A front steadily approaches from the west heading into Thursday, bringing back chances for afternoon thunderstorms. This is likely our warmest day of the week, in the mid-80s. The front draws nearer Friday, increasing rain and storm chances.
