Walmart expands Walmart.com access to shoppers in Mexico

Walmart has launched Walmart.com for shoppers in Mexico, giving them access to hundreds of thousands of eligible products through international shipping to the country.

The rollout enables customers in Mexico to buy goods across various categories, including clothing, home goods and electronics, directly through Walmart.com.

According to the retailer, the move expands product choice, integrates new brand options and offers available items not previously offered through its channels in the Mexican market.

Orders placed will be processed through Walmart’s existing fulfilment network in the US, with international carriers handling shipping and customs clearance.

The company said that estimated duties, taxes and fees will be worked out and shown at checkout, so customers can see the full cost before finalising a purchase.

To mark the launch, Walmart is running a time-limited offer providing free shipping on qualifying orders worth $35 or more being sent to Mexico, although taxes and duties will still be charged.

The company indicated that it intends to roll out international shipping to other markets going forward.

The initiative is designed to sit alongside Walmart’s existing e-commerce platforms, extending the availability of Walmart.com products to shoppers based outside the US.

Walmart Marketplace senior vice-president Manish Joneja said: “We are focused on making it easy for customers to access an expanded assortment of products.

“This is a milestone in the evolution of how people access Walmart.com’s marketplace assortment around the world, and we are excited to bring it to Mexico first.”

In its most recent financial results, Walmart posted revenue of $177.75bn for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (Q1 FY27), helped by ongoing growth in e-commerce and increased income from memberships.

Net sales rose 7.1% year-on-year to reach $175.68bn while income from membership and other sources jumped 27% to $2.06bn.

On a constant currency basis, total revenue increased by 5.9%, and global e-commerce sales grew by 26% over the quarter.

Earlier this month, Walmart extended its membership scheme outside the US for the first time, introducing Walmart+ in Canada after running it solely in the US since it was first introduced there.
